If it wasn't for Stalin's ruthlessness and industrialisation of Russia, would Hitler have won the war?

It easy to call Stalin the most evil man in history for his victims but when you consider how he got so many people to work, forced or not, Russia steadily industrialised making it a world superpower and one of the best military in the world. Had Stalin not made these drastic measures how could the Russians have resisted even with their weather? It's like everything was predestined to happen! Thus, was Stalin's ruthlessness for the greater good if we look at it farsightedly?
